Characteristics of High-Strength Geotextile Tubes for Permanent Construction

1. Excellent permeability. To meet the stringent requirement for high flow rates in environmentally friendly dredging and sediment removal operations, a novel geotextile base fabric has been developed with a unique weave structure and produced using a specialized weaving process. This design ensures that, during the filling phase of sediment removal, the base fabric deforms to create a three-dimensional permeable structure, maintaining a rapid water‑flow rate. As a result, it fundamentally addresses the common issues associated with conventional geotextile bags—such as clogging due to sludge buildup, resulting in no water discharge or slow outflow, and sludge leakage.

2. High bag body strength. The base fabric of geotextile tube bags typically exhibits high tensile strength, reaching up to 200 kN/m, with low elongation and excellent toughness.

3. Excellent resistance to acids and alkalis, and superior aging resistance. Aging resistance retention rate: ≥ 90% after 500 hours.

4. The seams of the geotextile tubes exhibit high tensile strength. To ensure consistent sewing quality, the company has specifically introduced state-of-the-art 6-needle, single-pass chain-stitch sewing machines, guaranteeing a seam strength of ≥80%. Furthermore, the company employs highly durable, high-tenacity sewing threads. The stitching locations and thread uniformity of the geotextile tubes represent critical stress‑concentration points during the filling process; therefore, along the tube’s circumferential direction, a six‑thread, evenly spaced stitch pattern must be used, with a stitch spacing no greater than 1 cm.
